One of the more popular family-friendly neighborhoods, Glenshire is a subdivision located about 6 miles east of downtown Truckee. Devonshire is a subdivision in the Glenshire area. Both subdivisions are similar and often considered as one community.

We often refer to this area as the "Banana Belt" because the volume of snowfall is much less than in other areas of Truckee. If you do not like to shovel snow this is the place to check out.

There is a convenience store, preschool and elementary school, making it ideal for families with younger children. Glenshire has a homeowners association, a clubhouse, 2 tennis courts, a basketball half court and a swimming pool. It also has equestrian and recreation easements, allowing residents to partake in outdoor activities right outside their back doors. With 1,357 lots, ranging in size from a quarter-acre to one-acre, the subdivision is approaching build out. Forested and meadow public lands surround this area that provide lots of recreation options such as fishing in the Truckee River, biking, hiking, and cross country skiing. Also, the Boca Reservoir and Stampede Reservoir are very close by and are great for boating, water-skiing, fishing, picnics, and camping.

Cambridge Estates is located within the Glenshire area and has larger sized lots of about 1-2 acres in size. Boca and Stampede Reservoirs are located close by and attract boating, fishing and water sport enthusiasts. Another draw to this Glenshire area community is its proximity to Reno - only about 28 miles from Reno.

The Juniper Creek Ranch and Juniper Hills communities offer forested home-sites that provide privacy and seclusion on large estate parcels of 10-20 acres. Located along Martis Peak Road, which is just off of Glenshire Drive, the communities are about a 15-20 minute drive outside of Truckee. Some of the home-sites have breath-taking panoramic mountain views.

The Juniper Hills properties are mostly 20 acre parcels, whereas the Juniper Creek Ranch properties are mostly 20 acres, with some 10 acre parcels, and some very large parcels of around 80 acres.

These are gated communities and many of the homes have accommodations for horses such as stables, barns, and corrals.
